Breaking the Mold: Tokyo Series Brings a New Perspective to Beauty Packaging
At MakeUp in Los Angeles 2026, LIBO explored how asymmetrical design can give beauty packaging a stronger visual identity.
When Shape Becomes Brand Recognition
In a beauty market filled with similar forms, sometimes the simplest way to stand out is to change the silhouette.
Consumers often see the shape of a product before they notice its logo, material, or decoration. This makes packaging structure an important part of brand recognition — especially as products compete for attention both on shelves and across social media.
At MakeUp in Los Angeles 2026, LIBO brought this idea to life through the Tokyo Series.
Tokyo Series: Designed to Be Seen Differently
Instead of following conventional symmetrical forms, the Tokyo Series uses soft asymmetrical curves to create a sense of movement. The silhouette changes subtly from different viewing angles, giving brands a recognizable design feature that goes beyond surface decoration.
Applied across compact, lipstick and lip gloss packaging, Tokyo gives brands the opportunity to introduce the same distinctive design concept across different beauty products. The collection is also available in recycled PETG, combining a distinctive visual identity with a more responsible material option.
