LIBO Showcases PPWR-Ready Packaging Innovation at MakeUp in Paris 2026
LIBO Cosmetics successfully concluded its participation at MakeUp in Paris 2026, presenting its latest developments in sustainable beauty packaging and highlighting how material innovation and thoughtful engineering can support the industry's transition toward a more circular future.
As the European beauty market prepares for the evolving requirements of the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), packaging development is increasingly moving beyond the use of recyclable materials alone. Greater attention is now being placed on Design for Recycling, material simplification, and packaging structures that can be more effectively integrated into future recycling systems.
At MakeUp in Paris, LIBO explored these priorities through a range of packaging solutions designed to balance recyclability, functionality, aesthetics, and manufacturing feasibility.
Rethinking the Compact Through Mono-Material Design
A key highlight of the exhibition was LIBO's 100% PET mono-material round compact, developed to rethink one of the most familiar formats in beauty packaging.
Unlike conventional compacts that may combine several different materials, the entire compact is constructed from PET — including the mirror.

By replacing the traditional glass mirror with a PET alternative, the design reduces material complexity and eliminates the need to separate the mirror from the main PET structure before recycling. This approach demonstrates how Design for Recycling principles can be incorporated at the beginning of packaging development rather than addressed only at the end of the product lifecycle.
The result is a simplified material structure that supports circular packaging strategies while maintaining the appearance and functionality expected from premium beauty packaging.
Sustainability Without Compromising Brand Identity
As sustainability requirements continue to evolve, beauty brands face another important challenge: creating more responsible packaging without losing the visual identity that differentiates their products in the market.
LIBO's mono-material PET compact was developed with this balance in mind.
Its clean, modern silhouette provides a versatile foundation for brand customization, while a wide range of decorative finishes can be applied to create different visual expressions. This allows brands to explore more recyclable packaging structures while continuing to deliver the distinctive aesthetics and premium experience expected by consumers.
For LIBO, sustainable packaging development is not about choosing between environmental responsibility and design. It is about engineering packaging that considers both from the beginning.
